  • What is Own.?

    • Own. is a combination of social media ideas designed to revolutionize the entertainment industry into a rewarding and healthy experience for everyone.

  • Privacy? Really?

    • At the heart of Own. is the belief that you should have control over your personal data and information. Unlike other companies that trade your data, we secure (encrypt) all your data and your sign-in serves as the only key to read it.

  • Do I need a full account to use the app?

    • After signing up and reserving your username, you can start using the app. However, a more complete profile tends to attract more engagement with your content.

Using the App

  • How do I navigate the app?

    • The app operates similarly to most social media platforms, with a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen that leads you to “Content Feeds,” “Ranks,” “Your Community,” and “Profile Page.”

    • You can upload your content using the prominent plus at the bottom.

    • Additionally, extra navigation may appear at the top of certain screens.

  • How does the feed work?

    • You have access to two feeds within the app:

      • The “Main” feed, which is based on global rankings representing what the community deems the best.

      • The “myOwn” feed, which tailors content to your preferences through a classic social media algorithm.

  • What are votes and how do I use them?

    • Votes are the primary way to interact with content on Own. By voting up or down, your opinions influence what all users see. Therefore content that receives more positive feedback gains more visibility.

  • How do I comment?

    • You can find the comments section by pressing on the comments icon at the bottom of the content description. Content Creators have the option to turn off commenting in which case you will not be able to access the comment section. 

    • Just like on other platforms, the most upvoted or "liked" comments will appear first, but now you can also downvote comments.

  • Can I reduce the size of post information on the content feed?

    • You can minimize the information on the left side of the feed by clicking the arrow on the right side of the box.

    • To enlarge it again, simply click on the right side of the minimized bubble.

  • What are ranks and how do I participate?

    • Our ranks promote sportsmanship rather than competition, encouraging out-of-the-box thinking and organic trendsetting as creators strive to showcase their best work. By posting once a week you enter as a contestant in the rankings.

  • How often do the ranks reset?

    • Ranks refresh weekly, meaning new content and ideas will be highlighted for everyone each week!

  • What is the Community Tab?

    • Your community page serves as the central hub for managing all interactions related to your content, your direct messages, and your followers.

    • You can respond to comments directly from this page and see who has voted on your comments.

  • How do the DM’s work?

    • Direct messages work according to two different scenarios.

      • Mutual Followers: If you are mutually following one another, both users can send messages without any restrictions.

      • Non-Mutual Followers: When you and the recipient do not follow each other, each person is allowed to send one message until you both follow one another.

  • How do I mute the content?

    • The content mute is found directly in the content feed at the top right. Changing the state from mute to unmute and vice versa will change the audio of all following content until the button is pressed again. 

  • How do I access my settings?

    • You can find settings on your profile page at the top right, where you can manage all your Account and Safety Settings, along with general app information.

Account and Profile

  • How do I update my username?

    • You can change your username once every 30 days via the “Personal Information” settings page.

  • Why can I add so many links in bios?

    • We know that every platform is different, and supports users in all different ways. We want you to promote everything you work for!  That is why we won't limit your ability to connect to other platforms.

  • Where can I share my content from? 

    • You can share your content directly from the posted content by pressing the arrow on the screen. You can also go through the profile page and press the share button. 

  • How do I change my password?

    • Password changes can be made directly through the password settings located at the top right of your profile page.

  • How do I delete my account?

    • To delete your account, simply select the option found under account settings in the main settings page.

Troubleshooting

  • The app isn’t working; what should I do?

    • Most issues can be resolved with a quick restart. If problems persist, please email us at contact@iown.app or visit www.iown.app/support.

  • I forgot my password; how can I reset it?

    • You can reset your password during the initial log-in or under the password settings at the top right of your profile page.

    • The reset process requires two-step verification, so ensure you have access to the email or phone number you registered with.

  • Having trouble uploading content?

    • We’ve introduced a progress bar that appears once you upload content, letting you know when it’s on our servers.

    • If you encounter persistent errors, please try again with a stronger internet connection.For ongoing issues, don’t hesitate to reach out to support.

  • Why is the app running slow?

    • Typically, slow performance is due to internet connectivity issues. Please connect to a Wi-Fi network and try again.

Privacy & Security

  • Is my data safe?

    • Your personal data is always encrypted, with your sign-in acting as the sole key.

  • What does it mean when my data is encrypted?

    • Encryption is the process of scrambling your data or changing it so that only a specific device/ key can access your data. This means that if someone would want to try to steal your data they would have to try every possible combination of your data which is not possible. 

  • How do I manage my privacy settings?

    • Your privacy settings can be found at the top right of your profile page, similar to most other settings.

  • How do I share feedback or suggestions?

    • We engage with our closest community by using Discord. If you would like to be a greater part of the Own. community please join HERE

  • How do I invite friends to the app?

    • Use your unique link found on your profile page to invite friends and followers. This can be done directly using the “invite your community” button in the profile screen. 

    • When they download the app, they will automatically follow you, and you’ll earn rewards for spreading the word!
